What different types of swings are out there?

When you think of a swing, you probably picture that classic wooden plank hanging from ropes, right? But if you take a good look around parks and other play areas, you’ll notice that lots of other swing types have been popping up and making children swing back and forth in many different ways! From the cozy baby bucket-swings to fun, high trapeze swings and even swings for wheelchairs, there is a whole swinging world at Adventure World Playsets so let’s dive in and explore them all!

 

  1. The Adult Flat Swing: A classic one, simple, made out of a hard plastic board hanging by two chains. It’s the workhorse of the playground, really! There is something wonderfully basic about it, you can pump your legs, lean back, try to touch the sky or gently sway as you chat with a friend or just enjoy the moment. It’s the reliable, no-fuss swing that’s been around forever.
  2. The Belt Swing: Another version of the classic swing, only with a flexible rubber seat that makes you feel snug and secure in it as you soar or simply softly sway in it. A great favorite of children of all ages.
  3. The Baby Swings: Our heavy-duty, high back baby swing and our baby bucket-swing are both made for babies to enjoy the soft, calming motion of swinging. The high-back baby swing helps hold up and protect the baby’s neck and head and the bucket swing provides general support for a little one’s body as this swing cradles them, keeping them upright and secure.
  4. The Trapeze Swing: Picture this, instead of a seat you’ve got a horizontal bar hanging from two chains; it’s like bringing a little bit of the circus to your backyard! It’s definitely for older kids and adventurous adults because it requires more upper body strength and coordination. It’s a fantastic workout since you’re building grip strength, arm strength, and core stability as you swing, hang and try out different positions.
  5. The Trapeze Ball Swing: With all the fun and cool benefits that a simple trapeze swing has, with the added fun of a ball hanging from it! Climbing on to it is a bit different and maybe more challenging but it’s also a blast for developing coordination and body awareness.
  6. The Cyclone Disk and Ball Swings: A round, flat disk hanging from a single point where you can sit, kneel or even stand on! Great for developing balance and spatial awareness. A dizzy, exhilarating experience, perfect for kids who love a thrill. And there is also the ball swing, a sturdy ball suspended from swing chains, it’s a bit like a trapeze but with a rounded surface. You can sit on it, try to stand on it or just hang from it. It’s a real challenge for balance and coordination and a great way to build core strength!
  7. The Tire Swings: Another classic! Whether it’s a 2-chain, a 4-chain or a 3-chain tire swing with a swivel, these are probably some of the most fun swings there are and also, there is something undeniably nostalgic about them. They are super versatile, you can sit on the tire, straddle it or even stand on it! They offer a deep, swinging motion that’s really satisfying.
  8. The Vinyl Horse Glider, the Plastic Glider and the Easy Rider Glider: These are all about sharing the fun! They are the type of swings on which children (or adults) sit facing each other and instead of swinging back and forth independently, the seats are connected so you swing together in a synchronized motion. On these swings, you get that gentle, rhythmic gliding feeling and it’s great for encouraging teamwork and communication.
  9. The Uni-Glider: A unique, individual glider with hand grips and foot-rests that is a fun twist on the original glider swing. The uni-glider’s motion is a bit different too. While it still glides, it often allows for a soft, side-to-side movement, kind of like a gentle rocking horse in mid-air. It’s great for developing balance and core strength, as you need to shift your weight to maintain your balance.
  10. The Hammock Swing: A comfy swing and a great one for adults to relax as kids play although it is so inviting that kids will be happy to swing on it, too! It can be hung from a swing-beam and also in a shady spot under a tower.
  11. The Adult Love Seat: A handsome and comfortable double-seat swing to sit and swing softly holding hands while the children play, however, we can’t promise kids won’t love it and want to play on it too!
  12. The Wheelchair Swing: An awesome addition to playsets, since they are designed to make the joy of swinging accessible to everyone, regardless of mobility challenges and provide the opportunity for inclusive play.
