Swing Set Games To Try With Your Kids This Spring

Spring is a great season for getting outside and enjoying the fresh air with your kids and if you have a swing set in your backyard, there are many fun and exciting games you can play on it with your family!

1. Swing Set-Race:

in this game, two or more children swing at the same time to see who can swing the highest or for the longest time. You can time them or have uncles or grandparents be “judges”.

2. Swing Volleyball:

Using a soft beach ball, play a singles or doubles volleyball game with one person on a swing and another person on foot, a few feet away from the kid on the swing. The kid on foot can use hands and arms to hit the ball, but the kid on the swing can only use his legs!

3. Swing Balance Challenge:

Have kids sit on the swings without swinging or moving, arms outstretched and holding a water balloon or a soft toy in each hand and see how long they can hold their balance!

4. Swing Set Tag:

Play it like a normal tag game, and home is feet-off-the-ground for five seconds; this means kids can get on swings, slides and other features of the swing set,  to be safe from getting tagged, but they have to keep moving because the “home” effect only “lasts” for five (or ten, or fifteen) seconds!

5. Swing Basketball:

If you have a basketball hoop pole, you can set it in front of the swing set, or you can simply set a bucket a few feet in front of it, and take turn at shooting baskets while they swing. You can make it more challenging by increasing the distance or adding a time limit!

6. Swing Set Obstacle Course:

Set up an obstacle course with objects on the ground, such as cones, hula-hoops and jump-ropes, and include the features in your swing set like fireman poles, rock-climbing walls, gangplanks, hanging bridges and chain-ladders in the race!

Playing Swing Set Games With Your Kids Is A Great Way To Promote Physical Activity

As well as creativity. It also allows for quality family time and can help children develop social skills as they learn to play with others, plus, it’s a great way to get outside and enjoy the spring weather. Give these games a try and watch your kids have a blast!
