Ideal Playsets and Features According to Kid’s Age
As a parent, when you consider purchasing a playset or letting your kids use the ones in the park, you normally think in terms of age and size. It is important to do so, first and foremost, because of safety issues. There are play sets and features on them that could be not age appropriate for little kids and could create a safety hazard, like a two-year-old attempting to slide down the fireman’s pole without adult assistance and supervision.
All kids are different, but with the correct care, babies as young as six months can safely enjoy swinging softly in seats made for infants, always with a supervising adult.
One of the coolest things about Adventure World Play Sets is that our sets can grow with your child, ensuring their fun for many years to come!
Here are some general pointers about age to consider when buying a play set or letting your children on one.
Buying a Playset According to Kid’s Age:
Swing Sets for 6 months – 1 year oldWe consider that this is the minimum age in which a kid can safely use an Adventure World Play Set with careful adult supervision, because it is the age in which most babies will have developed enough strength in their necks to hold their head upright. If an infant cannot do this, it is best to not put him in a swing.
For these adventurous little ones, we offer the sturdy, heavy-duty high back baby swing and the full bucket baby swing, both of which are designed for babies and toddlers with great support for the back and torso. Although they are designed to help support the baby in an upright position, we cannot stress enough the importance of close adult supervision at this stage. And don’t worry, a baby does not need to swing high to have fun! Some may not need to even swing softly at all to enjoy the experience.
Playset for 2 – 4 years oldWhen kids are around the ages between two to four years old, they can begin to enjoy the swinging experience a little more in the same baby and toddler swings mentioned before. These seats were designed for children in this age range and in them, their backs are well supported but their legs are free to move like on any other swing, making it easy for them to make the leg movements that create their impulse.
Our baby bucket swing is safe for babies and toddlers because of the seat belt and the vinyl bar over the leg-holes which prevent the child from sliding out. Our high-back baby seat gives toddlers a little extra room for mobility since it gives them more arm and leg freedom than the bucket swing and this will help them learn the motions to swing on their own!
Slides are still too dangerous for kids this age to handle on their own, even with supervision; in any case, holding them securely as you slide them down a small slide would be the best bet.
At this age range, and Adventure World Play Sets begins to get really fun! At four years old, most children are able to use a regular swing set and most likely, they will be able to get on the swing seat by themselves and swing on their own. One of the things that make Adventure World Play Sets stand out, is that they are fully customizable with the variety of creative attachments and accessories that we offer, so when your child reaches the ages between four and six, you can start taking advantage of them!
Once your child has mastered the art of swinging, in most cases they will be ready for our smaller slides and our enclosed playhouses, as well as climbing the gangplanks and ladders with the help of a grown-up.
Our accessories for kids this age are also great and they can add to the fun that their set already brings; features like our steering wheel, ship’s wheel, binoculars, periscope, telescope, our cool megaphone and even our sand-box will be sure to make your children’s day, everyday!
Playset for 6 years old and aboveAt six or seven years old is when the whole world of our play sets opens up to kids for some serious fun! They are now able to swing on their own, slide down higher chutes and slides by themselves and even climb rock walls with no assistance, only supervision. Now, children are ready to enjoy some of the older kids’ features and fun, athletic accessories like our taller ladders and gangplanks, crawl tubes, chain ladders, monkey bars, bridges and even a fireman’s pole. You can also change the swings and hang belt swings, gliders, tire-swings and cyclone discs and trapeze bars for not only your kids to enjoy, but the whole family, too.
Higher slides are great at this age, and at Adventure World Play Sets we have an array of them, at five, seven and nine feet high, twisty ones, wavy ones, as well as tunnel chutes.
While we believe children can actually begin to fully enjoy their play set around the time they start elementary school, babies and toddlers can also begin to enjoy the outdoors in their own backyard and they can keep on enjoying them for many years more by customizing the set as they get older.
